Jade, Jades

A hard, typically green stone used in jewelry and implements and consists of the mineral jadeite or nephrite. In more ancient times Jade was used for it's hardness and made great spear ends, or arrow, even knifes. Often confused for an emerald. The difference is in the color, and hardness. Also Jade has more of a greasy look to it. Often hard to tell unless you are an experienced jeweler. Jade symbolized "high energy" and has been the center of many myths. And believe it or not, Jade, has been scientifically recognized to have healing effects on many kidney problems.

Jade Green

A light bluish-green.

Jadeite

A green, blue, or white mineral that takes on the form of Jade. It's made out of Silicate of sodium, aluminum, and iron.

Jewel, Jewels

A precious stone, typically a single crystal or a piece of hard lustrous or translucent mineral, cut into shape with flat facets, smoothed and polished for use as an ornament or decoration on any person, building, etc...

Jewelry Box

Not to be confused with jewel box / jewel case which is a box for a cd. A jewelry box is simply a box either carved or machine made to store jewelry.

Jeweled, Jewelled (british sp.)

To take an object and outline it in jewels. Ex. The dagger was jeweled.

Jeweler, Jeweller (british sp.)

A person or company that makes or sells jewels or jewelry.

Jeweler's Rouge

Finely ground ferric oxide used as a polish on metals. This often times gets confused with the sanding process as well. However it is far from it. For instance. To sand a diamond, you'll need more power than ferric oxide, you would actually need ground up diamonds.

Jewelry, Jewellry(british sp.)

Personal decorations or ornaments, such as necklaces, rings, bracelets, or earrings that are typically made from, or contain jewels and precious metals. There are many kinds of jewelry, the two most well known are costume jewelry, and ,well, for lack of better word "real" jewelry.

Jump Ring, Jump Rings

Ring that uses wire made by bringing the two ends together without soldering or welding
